Ike is the CEO and Executive Chef of City of Oaks Catering. Born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, Ike discovered his passion for cooking at an early age. Ike is the CEO and Executive Chef of City of Oaks Catering. Born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, Ike discovered his passion for cooking at an early age. Around middle school, his late aunt taught him how to prepare his very first dish—fried chicken. More than teaching him a recipe, she instilled in him the creativity, resourcefulness, and love for cooking that would shape his future. Known for her ability to "make something out of nothing," she remains his greatest culinary inspiration.
Although Ike initially envisioned a future on the football field, with aspirations of continuing his athletic career in college, life had different plans. What began as a creative outlet eventually developed into a lifelong passion and purpose.
A defining moment in Ike's culinary career came in 2018 when he had the opportunity to compete at the World Food Championships alongside Troy Dye. The experience challenged him, broadened his perspective, and solidified his commitment to the culinary profession. It was there that he truly fell in love with the art of cooking and recognized its power to bring people together.
Today, Ike's passion extends beyond creating exceptional cuisine. He is dedicated to serving others through food, building meaningful connections, and creating memorable dining experiences. In addition to leading City of Oaks Catering as CEO and Executive Chef, Ike serves as the Food Service Director at the historic First Baptist Church of Raleigh, where he oversees culinary operations and continues to make a lasting impact through his leadership, hospitality, and commitment to excellence.
