Troy is the CEO and Executive Chef of City of Oaks Catering. Troy was born in Detroit, Michigan and was introduced to cooking at a young age. His family moved to North Carolina in 1999, where he was introduced to southern cuisine and hospitality. Before long, the Detroit native developed a passion for creating gourmet southern dishes as well as learning about international food.
Troy married the love of his life in 2006, but also lost his beloved mother Brenda. She was his biggest culinary inspiration and teacher. This was a challenging time in Troy’s life, but it motivated him to continue his mother’s legacy as a chef. Anyone who’s entered his kitchen has been welcomed by his passion for people and cooking.
In 2017, his cooking expertise was further validated. Troy auditioned and made the cut for Food Network’s Cooks vs. Cons. He went on to win the Season 4 Grill Warfare Episode!
His current role is the Food Service Director at the historic First Baptist Church in downtown Raleigh, NC. He is also the owner of Tailored Cuts barbershop in north Raleigh.

Cooking was never anything he expected to do long term; it was just away for him to show his creative side. His real dream was to continue his football career in college but things didn’t go as planned. His biggest culinary inspiration was his late aunt. People would always say that she could make something out of nothing.
Two of Ike’s favorite things in this world are people and cooking. One life changing experience for him is when he was able to go to the World Food Championship alongside Troy Dye in 2018. Upon participating in the championship, he can honestly say that was when he fell in love with cooking.
Now Ike is the Assistant Food Service Director at the historical First Baptist Church of Raleigh, which is located in downtown Raleigh.
